This is fantastic! My husband and I are reading Dave Ramsey's book, The Total Money Makeover, as we're looking to work out a good budget and save more. The one question I had was the very thing you discuss here…what if there is something that is necessary but you just can't fit it in. I was concerned that sticking too strictly to budget would steal our joy. That's why I think your concept is so brilliant! I look forward to sharing this with my hubby:) Wonderful site…I'll be back! I've just started 2 blogs, and would welcome any feedback you can give.

Hey Esther – thanks so much for your comment! I'm a big Dave Ramsey fan (actually a certified financial coach through his company, Lampo). We use very similar philosophies for financial guidance here, but notice that occasionally folks will take it a little too far with a strict budget.

I'm glad that you found it useful; please let me know if there's anything else I can do to help! (I'm looking forward to checking out your sites!)
